I purchased these wonder clips by Clover that are so popular now. I could not believe the price of these. Everything for sewing is just so expensive any more. They are nothing but mini clothes pins and they were $35.00 for 100. I did some research and they had much cheaper ones online for like $9.00, but everyone said they break pretty easy. So I did break down and purchased the ones for $35.00. I am hoping they last forever. I used them on my new top and I did really like them. They have 1/4 and 1/2 inch markings on the clips so when you use them you can get your hems even. I am sure I will get much use out of them with sewing and quilting.
The top actually looks better on me than the model, which usually is not the case. I really like the sleeves because they are three-quarter length sleeves. The sleeves are a little puffy and the cuff fits tight right past the elbow. It was a little big in the hips and flared out at the side seams and I did not care for that. This material is pretty heavy and warm so it made the sides flare out and look huge. Now if it had been a thinner more drappy material it probably would have been all right. I did go ahead and remove the angle on the side seams and just brought the side seam down straight and I just cut the angle off. This made a hugh difference between looking as big as a barn and looking slim in it. I wasn't sure I was going to like it but I do. Now, on the front seam, I did that with my serger. I picked a color of thread that I wanted and serged down the seam. I should have turned off the knife but I was not sure at the time what I was going to do. Next, I did put the knife down and serged over the seam two more times and it gave it sort of a decorative edge. I wasn't sure if I liked that either, but once made, I do. I think it would be really cute with some leggings but I don't wear those because my legs are too skinny. I will just wear it with jeans. It was a very easy pattern and I bought it off of Etsy. I think it might have been discontinued. It is a Nancy Zeiman pattern. It went together very easily. The material was something that I had lying around. I bought it at JoAnn fabrics last year along with some scuba fabric.
The scuba fabrics seem to be out of style already. I don’t see much of it this year. It is really cute so maybe I will make a bag or something out of that. We’ll let me know what you think; I will be waiting for your comments.
