Quick Easter Treats For Kids!!

My oldest granddaughter was going to girl scouts and it was her turn to bring the treat. Sooo, she tells grandma that she wants brownies with powdered sugar on top. My youngest daughter isn't big on baking, so it is always grandma who gets the job. I tried to talk her into some cupcakes, but no, she had her mind made up on brownies. I just thought it would be so much easier and less hassle to do the cupcakes. Then I got a bright idea that maybe I could make cupcake brownies. I have never seen them before but thought, I bet it would work. I ran to Kroger's and bought a brownie mix and got a package of Easter cupcake paper holders and they came with little toothpick Easter bunnies and Easter eggs for decoration. I whipped up my brownie mix and there was actually a recipe on the side of the box for cupcake holders. Where has this been all of my life!! I baked the brownies and added three jelly beans to the hot cupcakes and stuck in the tooth pick decorations and sprinkled them with powdered sugar. They were so easy and just came out really cute. If you need a quick treat for Easter try this, it was a big hit!

Pillow Project Finished!!

I finally had time to get my pillows finished yesterday.  I have attached pictures for the last steps of the sewing that I did.  Here is a picture of what the Hello Kitty pillow sham looked like from the store.

You can see the pillow sham has this flap of material hanging off of the edge for decoration.  What I did first was I sewed my ruffle to the edge of that flap with right side on top of right side.

Now you can see the stitching line where the flap starts.  I folded the material on that stitching line and brought it down over the sewed on ruffle.

I pinned this in place right over the stitching on the ruffle.  I did the two side seams first and then the bottom and then the top. I just top stitched it into place.   I was concerned about how the corners would look, but they turned out great.

Finally, here is the finished project.  It was a big job, but it looks so cute and I am sure it will be even cuter on the girls comforters in their new "Hello Kitty" bedroom!

My plan was to use the "H K"  initial side of the material, but after making the ruffle I realized the "H K" initials would be upside down on the top of the pillow.  It ended up that I liked this darker side better, so it
worked out well!

New Video On Hemming Jeans The Easy Way!!

I forgot to tell you that I created a new video last week.  So sorry!!  Last week was quite hectic for me.  The video is a very easy way to hem jeans.  I have always hated to rehem jeans and usually cringed when someone would ask me to do this for them.  Then I found a new way of doing it and they are just a breeze to sew now!!  Take a look and see if you like this technique!  Cindy
