Please Read, I Need Help With Wax On My Quilt!!

I received one of those candles that has the light bulb in it and you place the wax cubes on top.  I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and was just thinking how much I really love this.  It makes the house smell sooo nice.

Well, I went to move it for Thanksgiving and boy did I get a surprise.  I had it sitting on one of my good quilts and apparently, the wax melted down over the lid or else it has a crack in it or something.  I have a big wax spot now on my quilt.  Here is a picture, you can see the dark spot.

Does anyone have any suggestions on getting this wax out of my quilt.  It went all the way through the quilt.  I just hasn't been my week!!  I would sure appreciate any help!!  Cindy

Something Is In My Flower Pot! - Continued.......

Well, guess what!  My husband got home and opened up the garbage bag and nothing was in there.  Now I know I am not crazy, there was something in that plant.  It probably jumped out when I was trying to get the garbage bag over it.  Good thing I did not know this all day!

I didn't really feel like cooking after that, I just felt like everything was dirty.  Who knew where this little mouse, or what ever it is, could of been.  Did he walk on my kitchen counters?  I wiped everything in the kitchen down with clorox wipes before I started cooking.

My hubby said it was possible it could be a mole and that it bore down into the dirt of the flower pot to hide.  My plant looks O.K., so we put it in the garage.  I guess we will keep it out there for a few days.  We are getting ready to go to bed and he set a trap in the dining room to see if something is in the house.

I always set my table the night before Thanksgiving and then throw a sheet over it.  Well, not this year.  I could just see that mouse walking across my dishes and then we would be eating off of them.  Now I will have to add that to my list of jobs in the morning.

You would think that we live out in the country, but we don't, we live in the city.  Last year we had a problem with tree frogs getting into the house.  That is just as bad, I am cleaning and a frog jumps out at me.  I think we finally found out how they were getting in.  They were coming in through the fire place.  One morning we came downstairs and four of them were jumping around in the house.  I guess it could also be a frog in the plant.  Just wish we could see what it is.  Oh well, maybe we will have something in the trap in the morning.

No nothing in the trap.  I looked at that bag several times during the day and the garbage bag was moving, I thought sure there was something in there, I guess it could of been the wind.  My husband got home when I wasn't there and opened up the bag.  I wish I could of watched to see if anything got away when he was not looking.

Now what do I do, is it gone, is it still in the house?  My husband will be home for a few days, but I just know it will show up on Tuesday when he goes back to work.  That is always my luck!

Something Is Moving In My Flower Pot!!!

I got up this morning at around 4:30am.  This is my usual time.  My husband has already left for work.  I am in the refrigerator getting ready to make some breakfast and I hear this rustling.  I turn and look into the dining room and my plant in front of the window is dancing all over the place.
Something is in my plant eating!!

Now I can tell you, nothing upsets me more than something being in my house.  I ran to the phone and called my husband and said, you have to come right back home, something is in my flower pot.  Now we have gone through this before and he knows how I am.  He says, "Cindy, I am half way to work and I have already driven 40 miles, you are going to have to take care of this yourself.  Be brave and go in and see what it is.  I say,  Yah Yah blah blah, I will just do that.  We hang up the phone and I decide just to go over to my daughters house until he gets home later today.  Then, it dawns on me, today is the day before Thanksgiving.  I am having Thanksgiving at my house and I need to cook all day!
What am I going to do?  I am sick to my stomach now, I certainly can not cook with something in my house.  We caught two mice down in the basement over the last week and I just bet that is what is in there.  Well, I tip toed into the dining room and turned on the light.  That did not faze him, he just kept right on eating.  Then I got the flashlight and tried to see what it was while standing in the kitchen and could not see anything.

I then decided to see if I could throw a garbage bag over the plant and take it outside.  That is exactly what I did, I throwed the garbage bag over the plant and pulled the ends shut.  Then I put that into another garbage bag and tied the end shut and put it on the front porch.  I then pulled my pumpkin over and placed it on the end of the bag.  It will now set there until my husband gets home and he can open it up and see what is inside.  My plant is probably ruined and I have had that over 20 years, but I don't care, I want that animal out of my house!!  I called my husband back and told him my heart was beating so fast, I will probably have a heart attack.  He said he was very proud of me for being so brave!!  Yah Yah blah blah!!  I still think he should of turned around and came and got it!!  Here is a picture of my bag.

To be continued tomorrow!  What is in that bag!!

When Did Squirrels Get So Smart???

We have an acorn tree right outside our back door.  We have lived her for at least 20 years and have always had a load of squirrels.  No problems ever with them.  We have this squirrel now that just has me baffled.
One day this summer I was playing hide-go-seek with my 6 year old granddaughter.  I ran to the back yard and stood behind the tree.  All of a sudden these nuts started falling all around me and one hit me on the head.  I looked up and there was this squirrel tossing down these nuts at me.  He did not want me standing by (his) tree.

We have patio furniture out there and were eating with the grandkids and he did the same thing, started throwing down nuts at us.  Now he thinks he owns the backyard.

I also have been fighting with him because I have a clothes line tied between two trees, of course, one of those trees is (his).  I have seen him chewing through the line and I go back out and tie it back up.  Twice he has done this.   Now this morning I see it is down again and this time, he just untied my knot!!!!!!!

He is smarter than the average squirrel,  maybe we should invite him for Thanksgiving?  Anyone else have a smart squirrel???  If not I will send you mine and just so he knows, that is still "MY" tree not his!!  I am going right back out and hooking up my clothesline!  When it gets really cold and snowy out though, I saved some nuts for him in my stash to keep him going through the winter, just in case he did not pack enough away!

Crazy Ribbon Flip Flops

As some of you know two of my granddaughters are really into gymnastics.  They practice for three hours almost everyday.  They are starting their competitions this weekend and my daughter, Tara,  asked me to make these flip flops to wear with their gymnastic outfits.
Photo: Sisters! http://instagr.am/p/RkZaqrohwc/

Here is a picture, it would probably be a little easier to see if I had a tiny foot to put into them, but this will have to do.  They are made with all kinds of different ribbons cut to around 8-10 inches.  Then you just tie them on around the flip flop.  The more different types of ribbons you have the cuter they are.  I have never made them before.  My other daughter, April, stopped over and fell in love with them.  She wants them for her girls in every color.  That probably won't be happening, unless I can find cute ribbon at a better price.  Now it was worth it for my two daughter's competition, but I don't know if it is for everyday.  The shoes were $5.00 a pair at Old Navy and the ribbons probably added up to about, at least, $15.00.

My Spice Cabinet Just Had To Go!!!

I don't know about you, but every time I opened my spice cabinet, which usually is everyday,  I would have to dig around for what I needed and at least three things would fall to the floor.

I have been watching on the Internet and it seems like all the ladies are getting this area straightened up.  Now it was my turn.  Here is what I am dealing with, probably shouldn't even show you this.
I have large containers from Sam's Club and plastic containers from the Pumpkin Seed and then the usual.  It is those little Tone containers that usually land on the floor.

I have had this old shelf down in the basement that was in my father-in-laws barn which I have kept for years waiting for the right opportunity to use it.  I knew it would be perfect for my new spice rack.  I talked my husband into staining it to match my kitchen and hanging it on the wall for me. I told him to make it extra strong because it was going to hold a lot of jars!   Now I love to decorate country, so don't be shocked when it see its ruff condition.

I bought two different sizes of canning jars.  Try to find those now that they are out of season!!  After traveling to several stores, I managed to get the number of jars that I needed.  Next, I worked on how I was going to label the jars.  I thought of getting chalkboard labels and writing on them, but I was afraid they would not stick since there is not a smooth side on these jars.  Next, I thought about embroidering something with my sewing machine and even creating tags to hang on the jars.

I was talking with my niece, Becca, because she is an avid scrapbooker and we finally hit on something much more simple.  I used a paint pen.  This would be so much simpler and much cheaper and I already had the pen on hand, so I could get started right away.

I finished it up this morning and first, here are all my empty containers.

And here is what my new spice rack looks like!  I just love it!

What do you think?  I might add some lace doilies in here, I will have to play around with the decorations.  Well, I better go! Now I feel like cooking!!!!!!!!!  Cindy

Bella The Kitty Made By My 6 Year Old Granddaughter!

My granddaughter, Gisele, started on this kitty over a year ago.  She is six years old.  She would do about 3 rows of knitting and stop and put it away.  She never gave up and I didn't push her.  If she saw I was knitting she would pull up her chair and grab her knifty knitter and start to knit.  This was a great project for a beginner and small child.  I would wrap the thread for her and she would do the knitting.  I did do the final sewing to put the kitty together, but she made all the parts.  I will introduce you to Bella!  She picked the name.  I am very proud of her and even more she is so proud of herself!  If anyone wants the pattern, just let me know!
